We have been silent on here since we reopened - although I’ve been updating social media - we’ve been settling into the new rhythm and I wanted to say a big thank you for those who have been calling in to see us, it was nice to get back to some normality and open our doors to let our lovely customers into our little shop.
What with autumn/winter arriving we have plenty to mention; Firstly we have the 70th Jubilee Edition of Rowan’s Mag 70 launch today (1st September), click on the link and it will take you straight there.
We have been getting in so much fabric; chambray, gingham, batik, Kaffe Fassett, linen mix, 100% cotton, cotton poplin and as we are thinking ahead to Christmas we have some great prints in the seasonal fabric - please take a look. We are constantly expanding our dressmaking fabric so please keep checking the website or social media or call us.
We are still selling sewing machines but new ones are arriving later in the year, please ask or keep an eye on social media for when they have arrived in store.
I have started doing my one to one sewing classes again from the age of 8 upwards. I can tailor a class to suit the individual and it would run over 4 weeks (or more) depending on the project and level of experience. Or I can do a one off workshop as a refresher course on your sewing machines. Each course lasts an 1hr at £12 an 1hr but can be adjusted according to the project. Pre-booking essential so please get in touch quickly as places are limited.
A last note on Covid safety, even though it’s no longer obligatory to wear masks, we are carrying on as before wearing our face protectors and would appreciate our customers do the same as our store is a small confined space.
Thanks again for your support, we’re heading into the colder seasons so it’s a perfect time to start making.
Welcome to our new website!

My love of making and creating has taken me through a very interesting career path. From designing and making wedding and ball gowns to soft furnishings for my home.
With over 20 years experience working in the haberdashery trade; starting with a bespoke bridal designer followed by years of refining my craft at Rose & Hubble and more recently Coats Crafts, I have always loved and thrived in each job's environment.
There is so much satisfaction in creating things for yourself and over the years I have found that teaching and encouraging other people to learn new skills is very important to me. I am a mother to a beautiful and creative daughter who amazes me each day and I hope I can encourage her like my mother did me, to create and explore the world of craft.
House of Haby is a stockist for all haberdashery, dressmaking, sewing and tailoring supplies. We continue to supply our customers with hundreds of high quality products from leading worldwide brands.
You'll find an exquisite range of yarns and a wide selection of knitting accessories, as well as craft and dressmaking fabric including sewing and patchwork accessories.
